I graduated with a dental hygiene license from Herzing University in 2008 and afterwards practiced dental hygiene full time until 2020. During the pandemic lockdowns I discovered Myofunctional Therapy and became obsessed with learning about how this treatment can help patients.
I personally have suffered from myofunctional disorders including open mouth posture, headaches and mouth breathing. Those disorders were untreated when I was a child and have had a lasting impact on my adult self. I have found relief from those disorders through myofunctional therapy and I hope to help my patients by educating them and creating a lasting impact from achieving proper oral rest posture.
Oral disfunction lives in our house through all 4 of our children, myself and my husband. We have had orofacial disfunctions in the forms of breastfeeding latch, open mouth posture, drooling, snoring, tongue thrust, lip and buccal ties, open bites, headaches, allergies, unrestful sleep including sleep walking, speech problems, and inadequate jaw growth. Little did I know when my oldest was born that these issues could have been addressed immediately and we would have saved ourselves some of the stresses that came along with parenting. My goal is to create a proper tongue rest posture for families that may alleviate the disorders that disrupt their daily lives.
